Teacup Poodle


The teacup poodle is just a name that is given to very small Poodles by breeders. In reality they are recognized as Toy Poodles by the AKC. Teacup Poodles are 9 inches or smaller and under 6 pounds in weight. They are extremely intelligent and one of the most trainable breeds. Teacup poodles are cheerful,lively and like to be around people. They are generally good with people and other dogs, but may snap if an owner lets them be a pack leader.

The teacup Poodle is recommended as a pet for adults and children who display leadership skills. An owner needs to make sure that a teacup Poodle knows who the pack leader is, so there shouldn’t be any behavior issues. In order to have a mantally stable teacup Poodle an owner needs to be consisten and confident pack leader. The Teacup Poodles are long lived breed. They are prone to many genetic disease.These tiny teacup dogs don’t need a lot of outdoors so they will do great in an apartment. They usually live up to 12 to 15 years.

The name Poodle probably came from the German word ”pudel” which means ”one who play in water”. The origin of the teacup Poodle is unkown. Many believe that these tiny dogs originated in France, while other think that they came from Germany or Denmark. In France they were used to sniff out truffles laying underground and also in circus becaue teacup poodles are very intelligent and trainable.
